July 2025 Newsletter – From the cellar

At the beginning of the year, as per tradition, we racked the wines of the new vintage into the big barrels, with the exception of the Dolcetto d’Alba Mandorlo and the Langhe Nebbiolo Montegrilli, which continued their aging exclusively in stainless steel, in line with our production philosophy.

In February and March, we also bottled part of the wines that are now making their debut on the market. These are wines that are ready to tell the story of the vintage, the personality of the land, and the character of the grapes from which they are born.

The Barbaresco Bordini 2022 opens with elegance and depth. It displays the classic, brilliant garnet color, while on the nose it unfolds in multiple layers: ripe cherry, raspberry, sweet spices such as cinnamon and clove, and hints of Mediterranean herbs. The palate is precise and linear, driven by well-present freshness and a robust yet integrated tannic structure, with a long, spicy finish.

When it comes to Barbera d’Alba, as usual, we produce two very different but equally captivating expressions.

The Barbera d’Alba Bricco dei Merli 2023 stands out for its generosity: full, enveloping aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, spices, flowers, and a touch of cinchona bark that adds depth. On the palate, it’s rich and juicy, with lively acidity that brings energy. The harmony that defines this Barbera d’Alba makes it deeply satisfying and expressive.

The Barbera d’Alba Pre-Phylloxera 2023, by contrast, is more refined and introspective: a wine that gradually reveals its immense complexity, with aromas of violet, fine spices, dark fruit, and light herbal nuances. The taste is delicate and caressing at first, then more tense and balsamic, supported by vibrant freshness that gives it depth without heaviness.

And if these wines speak with the power of structure and complexity, others express themselves through immediacy, freshness, and an almost disarming drinkability—perfect companions for the summer season!

The Dolcetto d’Alba Mandorlo 2024, with its brilliant purple color and fragrant aromas of crisp cherry, wild berries, and fresh flowers, is a true burst of vitality. On the palate, it is harmonious, with velvety tannins and a juiciness that invites the next sip.

The Langhe Nebbiolo Montegrilli 2024 also belongs to the realm of freshness, yet it retains the typical elegance of this variety. The aromas are vivid: raspberry, wild strawberries, citrus notes, and a light touch of spice. The palate is agile and luminous, with present but soft tannins. A wine of great drinkability—ideal even with fish dishes.

Finally, the Langhe Nascetta del Comune di Novello Anas-cëtta 2024 confirms itself as a white wine with great personality. The nose is rich and multifaceted: yellow fruit, white flowers like jasmine, citrus, a note of ginger, and a hint of thyme. On the palate, it is vibrant and saline, with a long, precise finish. A Nascetta that beautifully balances freshness, structure, and depth.
